Kemp's deal not a cover for McCourt

The structure of the contract was meant to help the Dodgers add talent, not cut payroll

LOS ANGELES -- There was a time not so long ago when Matt Kemp came to the ballpark and couldn't stand the sight of Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti.

The GM hadn't just criticized his defense and focus in a radio interview during the 2010 season, he'd embarrassed him. Or at least that's how Kemp saw it.
