Darryl Sutter to take over Kings

The Los Angeles Kings have officially announced the hiring of Darryl Sutter as the team's new coach.

Sutter will take control of the team Wednesday morning at practice and will meet with the media afterwards. He replaces Terry Murray, who was fired on Dec. 12.

John Stevens coached the team in the interim, going 1-2-1. The Kings earned a 3-2 shootout win at Toronto on Monday.

The Kings (15-14-4, 34 points) are in fourth place in the Pacific and 10th in the Western Conference. ...
