Willie Mitchell, Kings agree to extension

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Willie Mitchell signed a two-year $7-million contract extension Friday, the team announced.

Mitchell, who turns 35 in April, has been one of the top blue liners for the Kings in even-strength and penalty-kill situations. The Kings rank third in the league in goals-against this season and fifth on the penalty kill.
