Matt Kemp has shoulder surgery

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star center fielder Matt Kemp underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff damage in his left shoulder Friday. He won't swing a bat for three months but is expected to be ready for Opening Day, the team said.

The 60-minute procedure at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Kemp will begin physical therapy in seven to 10 days.
