The immensely popular iron man who played in 1,207 straight games, Garvey won a write-in vote for the All-Star Game and then MVP honors in 1974, the first of six 200-hit seasons. He batted .301 with 211 homers for L.A. and OPSed .942 in 45 playoff games.
