Eric Chavez will be a free agent after the 2004 season.
 
Miguel Tejada got the news on Saturday that the A's will not attempt to re-sign him after the 2003 season. So with the money soon-to-be saved on Tejada, where might the A's decide to spend that cash in the future? Giving it to the 25-year-old Eric Chavez would make plenty of sense, writes ESPN.com's Jim Caple.
