Award-winning writer Ivan Maisel has joined ESPN.com as a senior writer for college football, it was announced today by Neal Scarbrough,
vice president and editor in chief, ESPN.com. Most recently a senior writer for Sports Illustrated and CNNSI.com since 1997, Maisel will cover college football for ESPN.com and contribute to ESPN's SportsCenter, ESPNEWS, ESPN Radio and ESPN The Magazine. He will also contribute to the site's golf coverage during major championships.
"This is a great boost to our commitment to covering college football, and we couldn't be happier to have Ivan join us," said Scarbrough. "We're getting one of the premier authorities in college football, which will be a huge score for the fans."
Prior to joining Sports Illustrated and CNNSI.com, Maisel covered college sports for Newsday from 1994 to 1997, served as a national
college writer for the Dallas Morning News from 1987 to 1994, and as a columnist for The Sporting News.
Maisel was honored for the Best Enterprise Story from Associated Press Sports Editors in 1996 and Football Writers Association of America in 1993. He was president of the Football Writers Association of America in 1995.
Maisel earned a bachelor's degree in American studies from Stanford University.
