West Coast speed vs. Midwest brawn
By Mel Kiper
Friday, Dec. 29 (2:15 p.m. ET, CBS)
UCLA (6-5) vs. Wisconsin (8-4)
Power versus finesse. That's what we have here. Wisconsin will be looking to feature their super blue-chip junior RB Michael Bennett, who was brilliant this season, doing a great of replacing Ron Dayne in the Badgers backfield. And if UCLA keys on Bennett, the Badgers can strike through the air with their physically gifted senior wide-out Chris Chambers.
UCLA on the other hand, will look to get the ball in the hands of talented junior WR Freddie Mitchell. The consummate big-play option, Mitchell proved to be the most dangerous wide-out in the Pac-10 this season. In some ways he'll remind you of Peter Warrick. Remember as well that when he's at full strength, junior RB DeShaun Foster consistently performs at an All-American level.
If you are looking for a matchup to watch very closely, keep an eye on UCLA's Mitchell and Wisconsin CB Jamar Fletcher when they are working against each other in one-on-one situations.
|Freddie Mitchell is a constant big-play threat.|
