UConn, Texas await draft decisions

April, 5, 2006
Decisions are due in Texas and Connecticut that could dramatically affect the immediate future of both programs.

The Huskies expect junior point guard Marcus Williams and sophomore wing Rudy Gay to declare for the NBA draft and sign with agents. The staff is so certain of this that they're not even planning for an alternative scenario.

As for junior forward Josh Boone, the Huskies will have many discussions with him and his family over the next few weeks before the April 29 deadline. No one at Connecticut, and for that matter in the NBA that ESPN.com has talked to, thinks he should declare. Gay is a lock for the lottery while Williams is a first-round talent who could go anywhere, depending on need.
