Some league slates expanding

Conference USA is expected to endorse going to 16 league games, up from 14, for next season.

The coaches endorsed it at their spring meeting this week, but how the conference will devise a schedule is still unknown. The most logical plan would call for the 12 members to play each other school once and five of them again to complete a home-and-home.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten discussed going to 18 conference games, up from 16, but no vote was taken by the coaches at their league meetings this week. A number of coaches voiced their concern with 18 league games, with the potential to play as many as 22 against Big Ten opponents when the conference tournament is included.
