Gordon saga continues for IU

LAS VEGAS -- Indiana assistant Jeff Meyer was positioned about 10 rows up and to the left of Illinois head coach Bruce Weber and his assistant, Jay Price, at Green Valley High on Tuesday night.

It was obvious that Illinois was watching Eric Gordon, a 6-3 guard from North Central High in Indianapolis who verbally committed to the Illini last November. The Illini also were watching Gordon's summer league teammate, Derrick Rose, the 6-2 point guard from Simeon Vocational High in Chicago.

You can't assume Meyer was there principally to watch Gordon, but it's not a reach. There is nothing wrong with a school evaluating a player who has verbally committed, but for weeks the perception has been that Indiana is openly recruiting Gordon despite his verbal commitment to Illinois.
