Prepping for Midnight Madness

October, 4, 2006
Get South Carolina coach Dave Odom the Title IX award for being the most considerate of equal opportunity for the women's team during Midnight Madness.

The idea of Midnight Madness got watered down last year after the NCAA allowed teams to start practice as early as 7 p.m. on the Friday closest to Oct. 15. The reason was to allow fans -- and students -- to get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Still, these events serve a purpose of getting fans excited for the coming season while also offering recruits a chance to see a frenzied arena, so there is pressure to come up with something entertaining while also, in some cases, giving the women a chance to play as well.
