BC, Maryland both impress

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College and Maryland opened ACC play Sunday night, and both left Conte Forum as legitimate contenders for a top-three finish.

Boston College continues to recover from its dreadful early start by getting All-American play out of Jared Dudley (20 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, three assists); unique shot-blocking and developing offensive play out of Sean Williams (10 points, 11 boards, seven blocks and two steals in 30 minutes); timely 3-point shooting from John Oates, Tyrese Rice and Sean Marshall; and intangibles from Oates that are immeasurable (balanced rebounding on both ends, critical entry passes in the post and taking charges).

All of that added up to a 73-62 victory over the Terps Sunday night.
