Ryan wants round-robin schedule

Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan is glad the Badgers and Ohio State play a home-and-home series in the same season despite an unbalanced Big Ten schedule. But Ryan would like to see the Big Ten go to a true round-robin schedule, like the Pac-10.

"We should be playing 20 games in the Big Ten,'' said Ryan, whose team hosts the Buckeyes tonight (ESPN, 9 p.m. ET). The Big Ten plays a 16-game conference schedule, with each team playing four other teams only once. "Since they added games to the schedule [29 without a tournament, a maximum of 31 with a four-game tourney], we can add four more Big Ten games. I've pushed it at every Big Ten meeting."

The odds are against the Big Ten doing this since most of the leagues that have more than 10 members (the Big Ten has 11) look to add more nonconference games to the schedule. Still, Ryan likes the Pac-10 round-robin model where every team plays each other in a home-and-home for an 18-game schedule.
