You won't find any surprises at the top of our ESPN.com Power Rankings this week.
Indiana, Duke and Michigan rank as the top three teams again, while Syracuse and Florida jumped a couple of spots to climb into the top five.

Overall | Voters 1-6 | Voters 7-12 | Voters 13-17 || College Basketball Power Rankings - Week 5 | |||||
| RANK | TEAM / RECORD | TRENDING | PTS | COMMENT | |
-- Last Week: 1 | 421 | As if they weren't already high enough, last Tuesday's 24-point win over North Carolina enhanced expectations for Tom Crean's squad. The Hoosiers lead the nation with 87.8 points per game. | |
-- Last Week: 2 | 411 | Add Ohio State to the list of ranked teams that have fallen to the Blue Devils, who have another tough game on Saturday against undefeated Temple. Mason Plumlee has been college basketball's top player thus far. | |
-- Last Week: 3 | 389 | Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke each average 16.6 points for a squad that won its past two games (against NC State and Bradley) by single digits. | |
2 Last Week: 6 | 356 | James Southerland scored 35 points off the bench (nine 3s) in Friday's win at Arkansas. For the second season in a row, the Orange may have the nation's top sixth man. | |
2 Last Week: 7 | 355 | The Gators' six wins have come by an average of 25.4 points. That includes last week's 33-point stomping of Marquette. Kenny Boynton averages 14.5 points for Billy Donovan's squad, which plays at struggling Florida State on Wednesday. | |
2 Last Week: 4 | 334 | The Cardinals survived a scare against an underrated Illinois State squad before rallying for a 69-66 home victory on Saturday. Forward Stephan Van Treese will have to step up in Gorgui Dieng's absence. | |
2 Last Week: 5 | 312 | Last week's 73-68 loss to Duke in Durham shouldn't do anything to discourage the Buckeyes, who won't play a game away from Columbus until Jan. 5. Point guard Aaron Craft is shooting just 37.3 percent from the field. | |
2 Last Week: 10 | 300 | This appears to be one of Mark Few's best teams in years. All but one of the Bulldogs' victories have come by double digits. Saturday's home game against Illinois will be interesting. | |
-- Last Week: 9 | 298 | The Jayhawks are beating mediocre teams in less-than-convincing fashion. Bill Self continues to tinker with personnel in hopes of identifying a solid, eight-man rotation that will spark KU to a ninth straight Big 12 title. | |
1 Last Week: 11 | 292 | The Wildcats are shooting 52.3 percent from the field, a mark that ranks fifth in the nation. Still, Arizona -- which embarrassed an overmatched Texas Tech team in Lubbock on Saturday -- has yet to be tested. Southern Miss visits Tucson on Tuesday. | |
3 Last Week: 14 | 227 | It's difficult to question a team whose past three victories are against Iowa State, Oregon and Alabama. Those are solid wins. The Bearcats rank third in the nation in rebounding (46.7 boards per game) and 11th in points (82.7). | |
3 Last Week: 15 | 194 | Even without Michael Dixon, the Tigers are deep enough to contend for an SEC title. Freshman guard Negus Webster-Chan has held his own against strong competition, and the addition of shooting guard Jabari Brown in two weeks will help. | |
10 Last Week: 23 | 163 | After three years of hard knocks, things are finally on an upswing for Tubby Smith's Gophers, whose only loss came against Duke. Minnesota will have its hands full on Tuesday with Nate Wolters and South Dakota State. | |
7 Last Week: 21 | 152 | The Aztecs are undefeated in games not played on aircraft carriers. They shot 50 percent from the field in Saturday's win against UCLA. Jamaal Franklin is averaging a double-double with 20.2 points and 10 rebounds. | |
5 Last Week: 20 | 149 | Even though they emerged victorious, the Hoyas probably want to pretend like Friday's 37-36 victory over Tennessee never occurred. Otto Porter and Markel Starks have both been magnificent. | |
4 Last Week: 12 | 143 | The Spartans rebounded from a loss at Miami with a rout of overmatched Nicholls State on Saturday. Next up, they'll get three straight at home, beginning with Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday. | |
9 Last Week: NR | 128 | Last Thursday's 14-point win over Kentucky should do wonders for the Fighting Irish's confidence. Notre Dame shot nearly 50 percent from the field and outrebounded a bigger, longer Kentucky team. | |
5 Last Week: 13 | 110 | Three days after being upset at home by Boise State, the Bluejays bounced back with a convincing win over Atlantic 10 contender Saint Joseph's. Creighton will face a tough environment Thursday when it plays in-state foe Nebraska in Lincoln. | |
7 Last Week: NR | 108 | The Illini have been one of college basketball's biggest surprises thus far, although it's still difficult to tell just how good this squad truly is. We'll know a lot more after Saturday's tilt at Gonzaga, a game no one expects Illinois to win. | |
5 Last Week: 25 | 79 | The Lobos are undefeated despite shooting just 41 percent from the field. Kendall Williams scored 24 points in Saturday's overtime road win against Indiana State. | |
2 Last Week: 22 | 79 | Forward Anthony Bennett (18.8 points, 7.8 rebounds) has been one of the nation's top freshmen thus far. The Runnin' Rebels need to get more out of forward Mike Moser, whose statistics are noticeably down from last season. | |
14 Last Week: 8 | 73 | Baylor's victory over the Wildcats on Saturday ended a 55-game home winning streak. Kentucky isn't playing with the kind of hunger that has defined John Calipari's previous teams. The uncertainty at point guard also doesn't help. | |
1 Last Week: 24 | 70 | The Panthers are one of the most unselfish teams in college basketball. Their 19.3 assists per game rank second nationally. | |
7 Last Week: 17 | 62 | Carolina clings to life in our Power Rankings, even after an 83-59 shellacking at Indiana. The Heels did bounce back with 102 points against UAB over the weekend. | |
1 Last Week: NR | 47 | The Shockers are the only undefeated team in the Missouri Valley Conference, which is somewhat surprising for a squad that lost nearly every key piece of last season's league championship team. | |
| Others receiving votes: North Carolina State (45), Alabama (44), Oklahoma State (35), Baylor (28), Oregon (24), Colorado (23), Kansas State (20), Miami (FL) (13), Virginia Commonwealth (12), Virginia Tech (11), Maryland (9), Colorado State (5), Connecticut (4), Ole Miss (2), Boise State (1) | |||||

Ironic. First Heat basket of the game and LeBron hits a floater over the rim protector, Roy Hibbert.
