ESPN.com Power Rankings: Dec. 8

Week:

Kentucky showed its vulnerability, and with that we have a new No. 1.

Michigan State continued its rise, but it wasn't alone with upward movement. North Carolina, with Marcus Paige back running the operation, climbed up a few spots. Kansas, with Cheick Diallo finally available, made a move, too.

While some rose, some fell. Two Wildcats tumbled -- Kentucky and Villanova. And Syracuse will have to learn to deal with life without coach Jim Boeheim for a while.

Voters: Eamonn Brennan (ESPN.com), C.L. Brown (ESPN), Sean Farnham (ESPN), John Gasaway (ESPN Insider), Jeff Goodman (ESPN Insider), Seth Greenberg (ESPN analyst), Andy Katz (ESPN.com), Joe Lunardi (ESPN), Myron Medcalf (ESPN.com), Dana O'Neil (ESPN.com).
