Luke Fischer picks Marquette
The 6-foot-11, 230-pound Germantown, Wis., product tweeted on Sunday morning that he has chosen to continue his college career for Buzz Williams and the Golden Eagles. He won't be eligible until the middle of the 2014-15 season.
I am excited to say I will be transferring to Marquette University to play for Coach Williams and the Golden Eagles— Luke Fischer (@Bigfishy44) January 5, 2014
"Marquette allows me to be closer to home while playing at the highest level for a great academic institution," he said in a follow-up tweet.
Fischer was Mr. Basketball in the state and a top-100 recruit for Tom Crean and the Hoosiers but missed much of the preseason with a shoulder injury and played sparingly this season.
Fischer averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13 games. Crean opted to use fellow freshman Noah Vonleh in the middle, which resulted in limited minutes for Fischer and sophomore Hanner Mosquera-Perea.
Fischer, who scored 10 points and blocked three shots in his final game against Kennesaw State last week, was a part of a highly touted Indiana recruiting class that also included Vonleh, Troy Williams, Stanford Robinson and Devin Davis.
