Coach: Payne's foot improving
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State coach Tom Izzo says he's not sure how much Adreian Payne will be able to play Thursday night against Penn State, but the forward is making "significant progress" from his foot injury.
The 6-foot-10 Payne has missed the last six games with a sprained foot, but Izzo said he was able to practice a bit Monday night. The senior is averaging 16.2 points per game.
The ninth-ranked Spartans are tied for first in the Big Ten with Michigan despite injuries to Payne and forward Branden Dawson. Izzo says the challenge now is for the rest of the team to adjust to having Payne in the lineup again.
