Ben Howland withdraws as candidate

Former UCLA Bruins coach Ben Howland has withdrawn his name from consideration for the vacant Oregon State Beavers job, a source with direct knowledge told ESPN on Monday night.

Howland talked to Oregon State about the vacancy and spoke with athletic director Bob De Carolis on Monday saying that he was no longer interested.

Oregon State is also interested in Arizona assistant and Oregon native Damon Stoudamire.

De Carolis reached out to Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne and Stoudamire over the weekend and into Monday, according to a source.

De Carolis fired six-year coach Craig Robinson a week ago and will pay him a remaining $4 million buyout for the remaining three years of his contract.
