Dazon Ingram to miss remainder of 2015-16

Alabama freshman Dazon Ingram will miss the rest of the season with a fractured left foot, the school announced Thursday morning.

Ingram suffered the injury during practice Tuesday and will undergo surgery Friday morning.

A four-star recruit, Ingram had started all seven games for the Crimson Tide this season. The 6-foot-5 guard was averaging 7.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

"I am extremely disappointed for Dazon and his family," coach Avery Johnson said. "Dazon is a special, multi-talented player that we use in a variety of ways, and he'll be missed. At the same time, we are approaching this with a 'next man up' mentality. I have a lot of confidence moving forward in Retin Obasohan, Justin Coleman and Lawson Schaffer. They have worked hard and continue to improve every day. The expectation for us is to continue to work hard and play at a high level on both ends of the floor."

With Ingram out, expect Coleman to take on full-time duties at point guard. Coleman, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, has been a consistent sixth man for the Crimson Tide, getting minutes at both guard positions.

The Crimson Tide are off to a 5-2 start, including wins over Wichita State and Notre Dame. Alabama plays at Clemson on Sunday.
