VCU to be without Jordan Burgess for 'a few weeks'

RICHMOND, Va. -- VCU starting guard Jordan Burgess will likely miss "a few weeks" after breaking a finger on his nonshooting hand.

Rams coach Will Wade said he is not certain how much time the do-everything Burgess will miss, but "I don't anticipate anything where he'll be back quickly."

Burgess broke the finger late in the Rams' victory Tuesday at Saint Joseph's. He missed the team's game Saturday at Saint Louis.

Burgess is averaging 5.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Rams (11-5, 3-0 Atlantic 10), who have won six in a row. He is third on the team in playing time, with an average of 26.2 minutes, because Wade said he does a lot of the things that are invaluable but don't wind up in the box score.
