With a major snowstorm bearing down on Washington, D.C., this weekend, Georgetown is giving basketball fans incentive to cheer for as much snow as possible.
The school announced a promotion on Thursday in which tickets will be discounted based on the amount of snow received through Sunday.
Tickets for home games on Tuesday (vs. Creighton) and Jan. 30 (vs. Providence) could be marked down as little as 10 percent (if 0 to 5 inches of snow falls) or to a maximum 50 percent if more than 20 inches falls.
Snow totals will be based on official measurements at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.
A blizzard warning is currently in effect for the Washington region. Snow accumulations of 18-24 inches in the eastern suburbs of Washington are expected, with western suburbs expected to receive 24-30 inches. Washington itself is forecast to receive around 24 inches of snow.
Georgetown plays at Connecticut on Saturday.
