Iowa State coach: Jameel McKay can return from ban if he behaves

Prohm: If McKay behaves, he'll return (1:47)

Iowa State coach Steve Prohm explains why he decided to suspend Jameel McKay and what he has to do to return from his suspension. (1:47)

Iowa State Cyclones standout Jameel McKay will be able to return Satuday from his indefinite suspension if he can get through the week without any further incidents, coach Steve Prohm told ESPN's Andy Katz on Thursday.

McKay, the Big 12's reigning defensive player of the year, has missed two games after the senior was suspended last Thursday for an incident that happened during practice.

The Cyclones, who beat Oklahoma State and lost to Texas Tech without McKay, play Texas on Saturday.

The forward is averaging 12.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks for the No. 14 Cyclones.

Prohm told ESPN that he issued the indefinite suspension because he wanted to see how McKay, whose tweet last Friday suggested that he'd miss just one game, would handle it.
