UMBC has parted ways with head coach Aki Thomas, sources told ESPN.
Thomas, 36, had been the coach of the Retrievers for the past four seasons (he held the interim tag in 2012-13). Heading into the season, he was 21-70 overall and 12-36 in the America East.
UMBC finished 7-25 this season and 3-13 in the conference.
Thomas was an assistant at UMBC for five seasons before replacing Randy Monroe, who resigned two days before the 2012-13 season. Thomas also spent three seasons as an assistant at Howard, where he played collegiately.
