Trey Burke to start at point guard
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan basketball coach John Beilein announced Thursday that he will start freshman point guard Trey Burke over senior Stu Douglass in Friday night's season opener against Ferris State.
"He really feels good out there," Beilein said of Burke. "He's a point guard who's really done a great job, his whole life, of running the team."

Burke, the reigning Ohio Mr. Basketball, was a three-year starter at Columbus Northland High School, where he played with Ohio State's Jared Sullinger. Beilein said Burke has picked up the tempo of college basketball, much as sophomore Tim Hardaway Jr. did last year.
Burke was one of four Wolverines, ranked No. 18, to score in Michigan's 47-39 exhibition win over Wayne State. He was 3-for-7 from the field for seven points. Douglass was scoreless.
Beilein noted that he intends to use Douglass as a sixth man, which suits both Douglass and the team.
"I know Stu doesn't mind coming off the bench and hunting shots a little bit more than running a team," Beilein said.
However, Beilein noted that Burke needs to work on his body control when driving to the basket, referring to Burke's charges in the exhibition game. He also would like to see Burke settle down a bit on the floor.
"He wouldn't be in that lineup if I didn't see every day that he's ready to do the best he can do," Beilein said. "Then we continue to nurture him through it."
Beilein also mentioned that he will be starting sophomore forward Jon Horford over last year's starter, redshirt sophomore Jordan Morgan.
