Cal suspends forward Richard Solomon
BERKELEY, Calif. -- Sophomore forward Richard Solomon has been suspended indefinitely by California (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) because of conduct contrary to athletic department values.
Coach Mike Montgomery announced the suspension Friday. The school said Solomon won't travel with the team this weekend, when the Golden Bears (6-1) play at San Diego State on Sunday.
Montgomery said he expects student-athletes to adhere to a "high standard of behavior" and that wasn't the case for Solomon.
The 6-foot-10 Solomon, from Los Angeles, is averaging 6.0 points and a team-leading 7.3 rebounds.
