Jereme Richmond gets home detention
WAUKEGAN, Ill. -- A Lake County court official says former University of Illinois basketball player Jereme Richmond has been placed on home detention.
A court official says the 19-year-old from Waukegan was placed on detention Thursday while awaiting trial on battery and weapons charges. No trial date has been set.
Richmond was required to be at home between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. as a bond condition. Court officials say he didn't respond to two calls from the court during those hours.
Richmond was arrested in August after police accused him of shoving a girlfriend and threatening to shoot her. Court testimony has since called into question whether Richmond held a gun.
Richmond played sparingly in one season at Illinois. He left early for the NBA draft but wasn't drafted.
