Draymond Green says he will play
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State forward Draymond Green says he will play against Michigan (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) on Sunday despite his sprained left knee.
Green declared himself fit to play after Friday's practice. He was injured in Tuesday night's loss at Illinois.
Spartans coach Tom Izzo says he is a little apprehensive but was encouraged by Green's progress.
The Spartans (No. 10 ESPN/USA Today, No. 9 AP) host the Wolverines, who have won three straight in the series.
Green is averaging 14.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.1 blocks per game, leading Michigan State in each category. He is second on the team with 3.5 assists per game. Teammates said they knew he would try to play in the final game against Michigan of his college career.
