When reached Thursday morning, a team spokesman said there was no official update on Mitchell's status.
The team's second-leading scorer was suspended indefinitely 10 days ago for what was categorized as "conduct detrimental to the team."
Mitchell had started in 21 of 22 games before his suspension. He averaged 13.1 points per game, 7 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Despite missing the past two games, he still leads the team in both blocked shots and rebounds.
He was joined in Tide limbo before Saturday's game at LSU when coach Anthony Grant suspended starters Trevor Releford, JaMychal Green and Andrew Steele.
Releford and Steele were reinstated in time for Tuesday's game against Florida, but Green remains suspended.
