Canisius lets go of coach Tom Parrotta
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Canisius coach Tom Parrotta will not return next season.
Athletic director Bill Maher announced the move on Sunday. He says the Golden Griffins have not made "sufficient progress" toward competing for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title.
Canisius lost 80-70 to Niagara in the opening round of the MAAC tournament on Friday night. The Golden Griffins went 5-25 and 1-17 in conference play this season.
Parrotta coached Canisius for six seasons and finished with a 64-121 record.
