Pittsburgh, Butler to play in CBI
Shut out of the both the NCAA tournament and the NIT after disappointing seasons, Butler and Pittsburgh accepted spots in the 16-team College Basketball Invitational.
Pitt, which started the season ranked No. 11 on the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 10 in the Associated Press poll, will conclude its season in the CBI. The Panthers host Wofford on Wednesday, and the winner will advance to play the winner of Tuesday's Princeton-at-Evansville game.
Butler, which has made the national championship game the past two seasons, will host Delaware on Wednesday night. If they win, they will face the winner of Quinnipiac and Penn in a quarterfinal March 19.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee plays at TCU on Tuesday, with the victor facing the winner of Wednesday's Western Illinois trip to Oregon State.
Washington State will play at San Francisco on Tuesday, and North Dakota State travels to Wyoming on Wednesday.
The winner of Pitt and Butler's sections of the bracket will meet in a semifinal March 21. The best-of-three championship series is set for March 26, March 28 and, if necessary, March 30.
