Source: LSU talks to Johnny Jones
North Texas coach Johnny Jones interviewed for LSU's vacant head coaching job Tuesday in Baton Rouge, a source with direct knowledge of the process told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.
Jones, a native of DeRidder, La., was a member of LSU's 1981 Final Four team and was an assistant coach on former Tigers coach Dale Brown's 1986 Final Four team. Jones also helped recruit Shaquille O'Neal to LSU.

Brown, the winningest and most prominent former LSU coach, has publicly endorsed Jones for the position that Trent Johnson vacated when he resigned Sunday. Johnson was introduced as TCU's head coach on Monday.
Johnson, 55, was 67-64 in four seasons at LSU.
Jones has a career record of 205-162 with two NCAA tournament appearances and one Sun Belt Conference regular-season title in 11 years at North Texas and part of one season as interim head coach at Memphis.
