Gardner-Webb coach Chris Holtmann, the 2013 Big South Coach of the Year, told ESPN.com he is leaving to join new Butler coach Brandon Miller's staff.
Holtmann, 41, led the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 21-13 record and a second-place finish in the South Division.
Gardner-Webb was selected to play in the postseason for the first time as a member of the Division I ranks. The team earned a berth in the CIT.
Before taking the job at Gardner-Webb three years ago, Holtmann was an assistant under John Groce at Ohio University.
