Eli Carter cleared to play at Florida
Carter is the latest player to receive a waiver from the NCAA after transferring out of Rutgers following the departure of coach Mike Rice -- who verbally and physically abused players at the school.
Vincent Garrett will be allowed to play this season at Green Bay, and Mike Poole received a waiver from the NCAA to play at Iona. Former Rutgers big man Derrick Randle has been cleared to play at Pittsburgh.
Carter led Rutgers in scoring last season, averaging 14.9 points per game. He suffered a season-ending knee injury Feb. 16. He will give coach Billy Donovan and the Gators depth in the backcourt. Florida has guards Scottie Wilbekin and Michael Frazier coming back, and the Gators added highly touted freshman point guard Kasey Hill.
The addition of Carter, who has 94 career 3-pointers, will help give Florida one of the deepest backcourts in the nation.
