"He's very talented," Weber told ESPN.com of Thomas. "But it'll take him a little while to get adjusted once he becomes eligible."
The 6-foot New York native enrolled at Kansas State last January but was deemed a partial qualifier after having attended three high schools. He graduated from St. John's Northwest Military Academy in Wisconsin.
Weber said that combo guard Will Spradling is expected to start at the point when the season opens, but that the addition of Thomas in December could allow Spradling to move back to shooting guard.
Kansas State finished 27-8 last season, Weber's first since taking over for Frank Martin.
The Wildcats lost their top two scorers from a year ago -- Rodney McGruder and Rodriguez.
Weber also told ESPN.com that freshman forward Jack Karapetyan should return in a couple weeks from a foot injury and freshman guard Nigel Johnson will be eased into practice as he recovers from mononucleosis.
Kansas State won’t have projected starting point guard Jevon Thomas until mid-December.
