Pacers a good fit for Gary Payton II
The Pacers like experienced players who can contribute right away, notes Kevin Pelton, and the Oregon State senior fits the bill. Payton II could play alongside either Joseph Young or Rodney Stuckey on Indiana's second unit. Brilliant picks (Insider)

Oregon finished on top of the Pac-12 last season and made a run to the Elite Eight. With loads of talent returning, will the Ducks continue their reign?
Will Beavers get a win in the Big Dance?
Without its major contributors, Oregon State will continue its pursuit of something the team hasn't done since 1982: win an NCAA tournament game. It'll be a lot harder this time around. Teams with tourney struggles (Insider)

Back-to-back NCAA trips may be a tall order for an Oregon State team that loses its most dynamic player in Gary Payton II.
West coast, best coast?
When it comes to the tournament, not so much. Of the seven Pac-12 teams to make the tourney, five were knocked out in the first round. Utah is the only team to have won so far, but top-seeded Oregon plays tonight. Can they make up for the rest and hang with the best?
Gary Payton II led a rally that garnered Oregon State a second-half lead, but VCU recovered and advanced to the NCAA tournament second round.
John Gasaway ESPN Insider
You shouldn't judge a conference by the one-game sample size offered by the NCAA tournament. Or at least you shouldn't do that ordinarily. But the Pac-12's 1-5 record -- and most crucially the fact that all five losses came to lower seeds -- does little to counter the sentiment that the league's beautiful RPI was built on savvy scheduling more than performance.
JeQuan Lewis had 21 points as No. 10 seed Virginia Commonwealth relied on its NCAA tournament experience to hold off a second-half charge by Oregon State.
VCU beats Oregon State
The game was tied with 8 minutes to go, but the Rams pulled away and got a eight-point win. Box score
