Villanova No. 1 first time in school history
The Wildcats jumped from No. 3 to No. 1 in the AP Top 25 after Oklahoma and North Carolina lost on Saturday. Maryland moved to No. 2, with Oklahoma at No. 3. A total of six schools got first-place votes this week.

Villanova was missing big man Daniel Ochefu, but the Wildcats still did enough to beat Providence on the road, a statement win in the Big East.
Darryl Reynolds had 19 points and 10 rebounds and third-ranked Villanova held off a late rally to defeat No. 11 Providence 72-60 on Saturday.

Providence was thoroughly outplayed by Villanova in the first 20 minutes. Friars fortunate to only be down 12 at the break. Dunn has six points (four in transition) and Bentil has two points and two fouls -- and largely ineffective with that ankle injury.

Ben Bentil is expected to play for 11th-ranked Providence after he left a game this week with an injured ankle. But Villanova's center Daniel Ochefu is expected to miss a third straight game (concussion). Follow live
