The first bid to the 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is on the line in Macon, GA, when the top-seeded Mercer Bears host the 2-seed Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Championship Game (Noon ET, ESPN2). * Both teams enter the game with 23-10 records overall. Mercer was 14-4 in A-Sun play during the regular season, while Florida Gulf Coast was 13-5. * Mercer, which is playing on its own home floor in the title game, is 15-0 at home this season and has won 17 straight home games going back to last season. Florida Gulf Coast was the last team to beat Mercer at home, beating the Bears in last year's A-Sun Tournament semifinals. * These two teams split their regular season series. Florida Gulf Coast won the 1st meeting in Fort Myers, FL, 77-70 in overtime, on January 2. Mercer won the 2nd meeting in Macon, 60-57, on February 28. * Mercer recorded wins over Florida State and Alabama (both on the road) during their non-conference schedule this season. Florida Gulf Coast's highest profile non-conference win was a home victory over Miami (FL) (currently 6th in the AP poll) on November 13. * Mercer has made the NCAA Tournament twice before, the last time in 1985. * Florida Gulf Coast is seeking its first NCAA Tournament berth as a Division I member (the Eagles were in the Division II Tournament as recently as 2005; they joined the A-Sun after moving up to Division I for the 2007-08 season). * This is the first time since 2009 that the top two seeds have advanced to the A-Sun title game. In 2009, 2-seed East Tennessee State beat 1-seed Jacksonville in the title game, 85-68.
