Wisconsin returns leading scorer

Nigel Hayes announced he has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return to Wisconsin for his senior season. Hayes led the Badgers in points and assists last season.

Andy Katz ESPN Senior Writer

Nigel Hayes is returning to Wisconsin. He said in a text: "It was better to work on the skills I would need a year in the NBA a year in advance, rather than three months prior. As a byproduct of that, next year I presume my stock will be higher as well." Hayes' return will likely make the Badgers a top 15 team and a Big Ten title contender after reaching the Sweet 16 under new coach Greg Gard.

Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes worked out for the Celtics today. He has three more workouts (Phoenix, Utah, NY) and then he will wait to hear "and if it's not (what he wants) then I will go back to college and be the best player in college basketball."

Back to school for Hayes?

Nigel Hayes Jr. struggled down the stretch for the Badgers, and now he's a guy who could go undrafted -- if he decides to stay in the draft. Jeff Goodman calls this one a "no-brainer." Will they stay or will they go (Insider)
