UNC's John Henson to play Sunday
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- North Carolina forward John Henson, who has missed three straight games because of a sprained left wrist, will start Sunday against eighth-seeded Creighton in the NCAA tournament, a team spokesman said.
Henson, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, suffered the injury March 9 while trying to break his fall after he was fouled during the ACC tournament quarterfinals. His status has been a game to game question since.
After top-seeded UNC's win over Vermont on Friday, coach Roy Williams had said Henson was close to playing -- but he still wanted the player's wrist to get stronger.
Henson is averaging 13.8 points and 10.1 rebounds.
The Tar Heels tip off against Creighton at about 5:30 p.m. ET at Greensboro Coliseum.
