Anthony Davis breaks block record
NEW ORLEANS -- Kentucky's Anthony Davis broke the NCAA freshman block record with three first-half rejections in the first 12 minutes of the national championship game against Kansas on Monday night.
Davis' record-breaking swat gives him 183 on the season. He rolled to help Terrence Jones against Kansas' Thomas Robinson and knocked the ball away with 8:01 left in the first half, but he managed to keep it in play where Darius Miller could grab the loose ball.
Marshall's Hassan Whiteside set the freshman record in 2010 with 182 blocks in 34 games. This is Davis' 40th game of the season.
David Robinson holds the NCAA all-time mark with 207 in 1985-86.
