LONG BEACH, California (Ticker) -- Doug Ast scored twice and added an assist to lead the Long Beach Ice Dogs to a 4-1 victory over the Houston Aeros. Ast snapped a 1-1 tie 7:40 into the second period and staked Long Beach to a two-goal lead just 2:36 later. Philippe Boucher supplied two assists and Nikolai Khabibulin made 22 saves for the Ice Dogs, who won for the eighth time in nine games. Lane Lambert opened the scoring in the first period for Houston, which had won the previous three meetings with Long Beach.
