PHOENIX (AP) _ Matt Williams hit a bases-loaded double to cap a six-run seventh inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to beat the San Diego Padres 7-5 Saturday night.

The Diamondbacks, champions of the NL West, came back after the Padres scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-1 lead

San Diego rookie Buddy Carlyle walked Erubiel Durazo to open the seventh. Turner Ward followed with a double off the wall in center, but Durazo was thrown out trying to score.

Carlyle was pulled in favor of Dan Miceli, who walked Hanley Frias and gave up a single to Kelly Stinnett to load the bases. Matt Whisenant relieved and walked pinch-hitter Bernard Gilkey to make it 5-2.

Whisenant (0-1) struck out Tony Womack, but Frias scored when the third strike got past catcher Wiki Gonzalez. Whisenant then walked Steve Finley and Luis Gonzalez to force in a run that cut San Diego's lead to 5-4.

Carlos Reyes came on and gave up a bases-clearing double to Williams that put Arizona ahead 7-5.

Byung-Hyun Kim (1-2), the Diamondbacks' third pitcher, faced two batters in the seventh to earn the victory.

Carlyle pitched 6 1-3 innings, giving up two runs and five hits, and also had an RBI single.

Arizona starter Omar Daal gave up three hits and two unearned runs over six innings. He retired the first 13 San Diego batters before Wiki Gonzalez hit a high popup into shallow left field in the fifth. Frias, the shortstop, called off left fielder Luis Gonzalez but the ball fell just past Frias' extended glove for an error.

Daal walked Ruben Rivera before Gary Matthews Jr. bounced a single up the middle to put San Diego ahead 1-0. Caryle's RBI single made it 2-0 later in the inning.

Arizona scored a run in the sixth when Womack tripled and came home on a single by Luis Gonzalez.

The Padres scored three runs in the seventh off Darren Holmes on RBI singles by Matthews, Quilvio Veras and Eric Owens.

Notes: Matthews had been 0-for-17 against left-handers before his single. The two-hit game was his first since he was recalled Sept. 9. ... Luis Gonzalez has an 11-game hitting streak. ... San Diego tied a club record with five stolen bases in the seventh inning off Holmes and Kim, including a double- steal by Owens and Reggie Sanders. ... Womack's triple was his career-high 10th of the season.
