Beltran ends slump with two RBI

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME LOG

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Carlos Beltran broke out of a slump by driving in two runs and Johnny Damon scored twice and drove in a run as the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 on Saturday for their fourth straight win.

Jeff Suppan (2-1) allowed two runs and five hits in six innings as the Royals matched their longest winning streak from last season. Jose Santiago pitched three hitless innings for the save.

Brad Radke (0-2) had allowed just two baserunners and led 2-1 when Damon singled with one out in the sixth.

With two outs, Beltran doubled into the gap in right-center knotting the score at 2. Jermaine Dye followed with an RBI single to give the Royals the lead.

In the seventh, Joe Randa and Greg Zaun singled and Rey Sanchez hit a ground-rule double that made it 4-2. Eddie Guardado relieved Radke and surrendered a sacrifice fly to Damon for a 5-2 lead.

The inning ended when left fielder Jacque Jones made an excellent throw to home to nail Sanchez, who was trying to score from second on Carlos Febles' single.

Radke gave up five runs and eight hits in 6 1-3 innings.

Damon tripled leading off the game and scored on Beltran's sacrifice fly.

The Twins got a run in the fourth on Butch Huskey's RBI grounder and went ahead 2-1 in the fifth on Todd Walker's two-out home run.

Notes: All but one of Radke's 166 major league appearances have been as a starter. ... Minnesota center fielder Torii Hunter made a terrific play in the third, a running catch of Johnny Damon's slicing liner. ... Through their first six games, the Royals have totaled just two runs in the first three innings.
