FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Heavy rains in the New York area today forced the game between the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs to be postponed.

Weather permitting, the teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1:10 p.m. EDT. Today's scheduled pitchers, righthander Jon Lieber for Chicago and lefthander Glendon Rusch for the Mets, are slated to meet in the early game on Saturday.

Kyle Farnsworth of the Cubs and Dennis Springer of the Mets are the probable pitchers for the late game.

This is the only visit to New York this season for the Cubs, who split two games with the Mets in Japan to open the season.
