NEW YORK (AP) -- Roger Clemens thinks he still is the same power pitcher who has dominated baseball much of his career. Maybe he is right. Clemens allowed one run in seven innings to get his 249th career win in the New York Yankees' 7-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. "It's pretty much the same stuff I've been taking out there," Clemens said. "I'm throwing as hard as ever; I've gotten beat with some poor off-speed pitches. Maybe I was trying too hard to pitch not to give up runs." Clemens (2-2) allowed seven hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out eight and moved into 38th place on the career victory list. "The last time out, he had the same stuff but he got into bad counts," Yankees manager Joe Torre said. "For the most part, he had hitters on the defensive (today)." Paul O'Neill's three-run double in the fifth off Roy Halladay (2-4) broke a scoreless tie. Clemens did the rest, allowing only an RBI single to Marty Cordova in the sixth inning. "I think he's always going to be like Nolan Ryan," said Toronto's Darrin Fletcher, who caught Clemens with the Blue Jays. "He's a classic power pitcher. He's going to go down to the end of his career challenging guys with his fastball." Fletcher also matched his career high with four hits, three of them off Clemens. Yankees third baseman Scott Brosius also matched his career high with four hits but was more impressed with Clemens' pitching. "A couple of batters in, he was getting more and more comfortable," Brosius said. "Obviously, he can be real tough when he's ahead in the count." Shane Spencer added a two-run homer and Derek Jeter had a two-run double in New York's four-run sixth inning. Halladay worked his way out of trouble in the second when Tino Martinez tripled with one out. After Jorge Posada walked with two outs, shortstop Alex Gonzalez speared Spencer's line drive for the third out. Halladay allowed six runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. The Blue Jays got two runners on three times in the first five innings but couldn't score. Clemens got Gonzalez to fly out to end the second, Cordova to ground out end the fourth, and struck out Brad Fullmer to finish the fifth. Posada opened the Yankees fifth with his second straight walk, Spencer singled to left and Brosius beat out a bunt for a single to load the bases with none out. Halladay struck out Chuck Knoblauch and Derek Jeter before O'Neill's double. Game notesBrosius has six career four-hit games. ... The Blue Jays are 0-4 on Sundays this season. ... Fletcher entered the game hitless in 10 at-bats. ... The Yankees are 10-1 when they score first. ... Spencer's homer was his first since April 15. He hit four in the first two weeks of the season. ... Martinez tied his career high with his third triple of the season. ...
