PHOENIX (AP) -- Marquis Grissom came through when the Milwaukee
Brewers needed him most.
Grissom hit an RBI single in the 11th inning and the Brewers
stopped Arizona's team-record 11-game home winning streak with a
4-3 victory over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
"I was just trying to do the things a No. 6 hitter should do,"
said Grissom, who drove in three runs. "I just haven't been
getting the job done. I just got a couple of good pitches to hit. I
was a little more patient.
Bob Wickman (2-1) pitched the final two innings as the Brewers
snapped a four-game losing streak.
"I haven't had a whole lot of save opportunities," Wickman
said. "We have a bullpen by committee and if they need me to pitch
two innings, I'll pitch two innings."
Jeromy Burnitz hit a solo home run, his 13th, in the Brewers
eighth into the right-field pool area, tying it at 3.
Arizona's Tony Womack extended his hitting streak to 23 games,
longest in the majors this season. Erubiel Durazo drove in two runs
for the Diamondbacks.
Greg Swindell (1-1) retired the first two batters in the Brewers
11th. Charlie Hayes then walked, moved to second on a single by
Jose Hernandez and scored on Grissom's single.
"Grissom's been struggling all year," Brewers manager Davey
Lopes said. "He's been battling. He pulled it into the hole and it
couldn't have happened at a better time. Hopefully, this is
something to build on."
Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead in the second as Hayes scored on
Grissom's sacrifice fly. The Diamondbacks tied it in the bottom
half on Turner Ward's RBI double.
"I had a runner on third so I've got to get the run in,"
Grissom said. "That's fundamental baseball. It's something we
haven't done that well all year."
Arizona loaded the bases in the third against Jamey Wright on a
pair of singles and a walk.
Wright nearly escaped the jam, striking out Matt Williams and
Steve Finley, but Durazo dribbled a single through the right side
of the infield to make it 3-1. Jay Bell scored on the play, the
1,000th run of his career.
Grissom cut the lead to 3-2 in the fourth with an RBI double
just inside third base.
Wright, making his second start since coming off the disabled
list, allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings. He struck
out five, including the side in the third inning, and walked two.
Anderson scattered three runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts
and no walks.
"Brian pitched a wonderful game today but we didn't score
enough runs for him," Bell said.

Anderson's last loss came July 19 at Seattle in the
second-ever game at Safeco Field. The Diamondbacks had won 17
straight games started by the left-hander. ... Burnitz was in an
0-for-10 slump before he singled in the fourth. ... Hayes finished
3-for-4 and is 8-for-18 lifetime against Anderson.
