Yes, the Mariners are human. And that's why we love them. One day we may not remember how many RBI Bret Boone had this season, but we will remember how the Mariners celebrated after winning the American League West title. This team has class.

Surprise, surprise! The Power Alley makes some more dumb, moronic comments.Yes, the Braves did have a dynasty. That's what you call winning your division for 10 straight seasons. Oh wait a minute, I forgot. They will win the NL East this year too! By the way, how many winning seasons have the Phillies had in the past 10 years? Just wondering.

Shiva Mohan

Kudos to New York, indeed! Can anyone actually say, other than Braves and Phillies' fans, that they would not be thrilled to see the Mets pull off an improbable run at the NL East title? Here's one American that appreciates a great story in dark times and I'm all for it. Let's go Mets!
—  Ruben Nigaglioni, Richmond, Va.

OK, so the Mariners, who have already clinched the AL West, lose three absolutely meaningless games, and you're supposed to tell me this somehow indicates the actual ability of the team? Yeah, right. For the M's, games don't count again until Oct. 9. Then we'll see who the best team in baseball really is.

You guys are pathetic. You already gave up on the A's remember? Now you're gonna jump on their bandwagon again since the M's after 150 games finally had a small losing streak? Hope you enjoy your little wild-card team celebration!

Todd Hibbs

You heard it here first III: Compliments to the Power Alley staff for moving the best team in baseball to the No. 1 spot. The A's have a major-league best record of 58-18 since June 27 and are the seventh team to make the playoffs after falling 10 or more games below .500. Tip of the cap to GM Billy Beane for building a team that rocks!

Advance, N.C.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Nothing was more pleasing than watching Ichiro shagging fly balls behind his back during batting practice and then striking out twice against Corey Lidle during Friday's game. As great as Jason Giambi is, Jermaine Dye is the A's MVP of the second half. A tip of the cap to the Royals for continuing to supply the A's with premium players for just a handful of nickels.

Hint to Royals: Talent evaluation ... look into it.

Hilary Goldstein
San Jose, Calif.

So did you notice that the M's had just clinched the West and the best record in the American League prior to getting swept by the A's? Did you also notice that the A's didn't clinch the wild card until Sunday? Translation, these games meant absolutely nothing to the Mariners and they meant a lot to the Athletics. My reaction to the sweep ... yawn.

Lorrin Smith-Bates
Seattle
