Aroldis Chapman is in the Yankees clubhouse at Houston's Minute Maid Park, giving handshakes and hugs to his ex-teammates. He arrived in a golf cart through the hallways with none another than Alex Rodriguez. When Chapman first entered the clubhouse, Andy Pettitte, who is from nearby Deer Park, told Chapman he regretted that Chapman had been traded and wished him luck.

Mookie Betts had fluid drained from his knee two days ago, leading to diminished swelling and less discomfort when he tested it by running earlier today. But manager John Farrell said the Red Sox "don't fully expect [the fluid] to vanish," a sign that Betts might need a few days off during a brutal August in which team makes two 11-game road trips and has one off-day.

Believe it or not, it's conceivable Craig Kimbrel could rejoin the Red Sox by next week. He will throw off a mound again Wednesday, could go on a minor-league rehab assignment as soon as Saturday, and might not need more than one outing before he's ready, according to manager John Farrell. Kimbrel had minor knee surgery only two weeks ago.

Mets second baseman Neil Walker will sit for the second straight game as the Mets will go with Kelly Johnson at second base for their opener with the Cardinals on Monday night. Manager Terry Collins told Walker he would give him two days off when the team was in Miami. Walker is 4-for-45 in his last 13 games. "I just need to be more consistent in my approach," Walker said before batting practice on Monday.

The Cardinals had a rough trip to New York after Sunday Night Baseball. Their charter had mechanical issues so they had to call in another plane. Because of thunderstorms in St. Louis, the second plane couldn't land for quite a while to pick them up. Eventually, they boarded at around 3:15 a.m., endured wild turbulence and got to New York at 6:45 a.m. They got caught in rush-hour New York traffic, reaching their hotel after 8 a.m. Oh, and those thunderstorms are expected to reach Citi Field at about 6 p.m. ET tonight. So, there's that.

The Yankees have called up Luis Severino. A top prospect, Severino was 0-6 with a 7.46 ERA before being sent down. He'll likely be in the bullpen with the impending trade of Aroldis Chapman.

Two weeks after having minor surgery on his knee, Craig Kimbrel threw about 20 pitches off a mound, as expected. The plan is for him to repeat this exercise later in the week, and if all goes well, manager John Farrell said Red Sox can discuss the next step, probably a short minor-league rehab assignment.

Eye-opening note from Sarah Langs, of ESPN Stats & Info: Aroldis Chapman hasn't allowed a run vs. the Cardinals in almost 5 years. That's 25 straight scoreless appearances, 46 K's.
