Mets manager: No idea about trade

Terry Collins said that he did not remove Wilmer Flores from the game against the Padres because he had no idea about a pending trade. "There was nothing I knew about. Why would I take him out of the game?" Collins said. Flores was seen with tears in his eyes on the field in the 8th inning.

Flores emotional in Mets loss

A visibly upset Wilmer Flores received word during the Mets' 7-3 loss to the Padres that he would be traded to the Brewers. Sources tell ESPN the only hangup on a deal would be if the Brewers are not satisfied with Zack Wheeler's physical.

Tulowitzki homers in Blue Jays debut

Troy Tulowitzki went 3-for-5 with a homer, two doubles and three RBIs in an 8-2 win over the visiting Phillies.

Jose Altuve flashing that All-Star glove

The Astros 2B had no business making this play up the middle, but he did -- somehow -- and threw Angels DH C.J. Cron out at first. The Astros lead 6-1 in the 8th.

Dodgers steal a run in the first

In a weird twist of fate, both the Dodgers and A's stole third in the first inning. But only Los Angeles made anything of the theft, as Andre Ethier's RBI single brought home Howie Kendrick. The Dodgers lead 1-0 after the 1st. Follow live

Reds blank Cardinals, take series

Reds RHP Anthony DeSclafani struck out 3 and gave up just 3 hits over 7 scoreless innings as the Reds beat the MLB-best Cardinals 1-0. Reds RF Jay Bruce's solo shot in the second was the lone run of the game. Box score

Final: Padres 7, Mets 3

Lucas Duda hit 3 solo HRs for New York, but San Diego pelted Bartolo Colon on the way to 6 early runs, and the Padres cruised comfortably. Wilmer Flores, who is reportedly on the way to Milwaukee via trade, played most of the game until he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the 9th. Box score

Paul Pierce fails with first pitch

New Clipper Paul Pierce's pitch at the Dodgers game came up well short of the target. But what do you expect? The Truth ends games. He doesn't start them.

Harper powers Nats past Marlins

Bryce Harper slammed a three-run homer and a solo shot to lift the visiting Nationals to a 7-2 win over the Marlins. Harper now leads the NL in HRs with 29 after his eighth career multi-homer game. Box score

Astros get on the board in the 5th

Astros 3B Luis Valbuena led off the bottom of the 5th with a double to deep left and would score on a Colby Rasmus sac fly, and Jose Altuve's RBI, infield single added a second run to go up 2-1 over the Angels. Live on ESPN, WatchESPN

Tulo debuts, Jays cruise

Troy Tulowitzki's first hit as a Blue Jay was a two-run homer, and he added two doubles to finish 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs. R.A. Dickey allowed two runs over 8 IP to improve to 5-10. Box score

Flores takes field with tears in his eyes

After a standing ovation from Mets fans in the 7th and going back into the dugout, Wilmer Flores emerged for the 8th red-eyed and clearly emotional. The 23-year-old has played his entire career with New York. Follow live

Mets fans give Flores a big ovation

Despite the reported trade to the Brewers, Wilmer Flores still remains in the game for New York. Fans in the stands seem aware of the impending trade, too, as they showered Flores with applause as he came to the plate in the bottom of the 7th. Follow live

Mets' problems are in the outfield

Lucas Duda is representing New York's infield well. But coming into tonight, the outfield has been bottom-10 across the board.
